The big-battery budget phone from Motorola gets 5G and a higher price

The 2023 variant of Motorola’s about battery-duration Moto G Power exchanges a portion of that battery duration for current comforts. This year, Moto’s battery claims are lower and the price is higher because, in addition to 5G, there is also a better screen and a more powerful processor available. While last year’s 128GB model sold for $249, the current year’s version begins at $299. Nonetheless, it might be a worthwhile budget phone.

MediaTek Dimensity 930 processor. That appears to be a significant upgrade from the 2022 Moto G Power’s 4G-only Helio G37 chip, which, according to several reports, smelled bad. Naturally, there is also 5G, which you probably won’t need on a new phone until 2023.

This year’s Moto G Power features a 1080p LCD screen with a top refresh rate of 120Hz, up from the 720p 90Hz screen in the previous model. On such a large screen, the increased resolution is welcome, and the switch to 120 Hz should make animations and motion significantly smoother. A headphone jack (yay!), a few mostly ineffective macro and depth cameras, and a 50-megapixel main camera remain.
